PRESIDENT WANTED UFO PROBE, FORMER OFFICIAL SAYS

[CNI News thanks Dan Drasin for alerting us to this story, which appeared on November 23, 1997 in the New York Post, written by Deborah Orin.]

According to a former Justice Department official, when Bill Clinton became president, one of the first things he wanted to know was the truth about UFOs.

Webster Hubbell, an old Arkansas pal that Clinton appointed as a deputy attorney general under Janet Reno, mentions Clinton's UFO interest in his new book, "Friends in High Places."

"Clinton had said, 'If I put you over at Justice, I want you to find the answers to two questions for me,' Hubbell recounts. 'One, who killed JFK. And two, are there UFOs?'

"Clinton was dead serious. I had looked into both, but wasn't satisfied with the answers I was getting," Hubbell adds.

Hubbell was implicated in the Whitewater scandal. He worked closely with Hillary Clinton and former White House lawyer Vincent Foster at Little Rock's Rose Law Firm. According to Whitewater informant Jim McDougal, Hubbell "knows where the bodies are buried" on the infamous land deal. But he resigned from the Justice Department after pleading guilty to bilking law clients of $482,000.

In his book, Hubbell says he deeply regrets his failure to get answers on the JFK and UFO questions for the president.
